Man brandishes fork and commands zoo animals to eat zookeeper — they, of course, do not obey
According to police, a man asked the animals at the Dickerson Park Zoo in Springfield, Mo., to do his bidding on Tuesday night, after the zoo had closed. The animals, of course, did not listen to him.
USA Today reports that Joseph L. Binford, 37, was walking around the zoo after hours, flailing his arms and talking to people who weren’t there. The court documents read that once a zookeeper confronted him, he commanded the nearby cheetahs to eat the zookeeper.
Two officers responded to the incident, according to court documents, and found Binford on a hill, where he was making unintelligible statements about “God” and “Lucifer.” He also held a silver object in each hand. Binford ignored police commands to drop the objects, and as he ran toward the officers, Binford threw the objects, which turned out to be dinner forks.
The outlet reports that the police officers subdued him with a Taser and arrested him. During a struggle, he allegedly attempted to grab an officer’s gun.
Binford is being held at the Greene County Jail on a $12,500 bond, according to the news outlet. He was charged with assault, unlawful use of a weapon and trespass. Charges of attempting to disarm the police officer and a probation violation are pending.
The cheetahs were not charged since they were not an accessory to the crime.
