Man breaks into dance routine while being arrested after police chase: 'They finally caught Jamiroquai'

A man who led the California Highway Patrol on a chase through the San Fernando Valley on Tuesday broke into an agile, 15-second dance routine when officers tried to place him under arrest.

Cops were chasing the unidentified suspect and finally caught up to him on Laurel Canyon Boulevard by performing a PIT maneuver — a shut-down technique in which officers put the front of their vehicle into the back of the one they’re chasing, then steer into the second car to make it lose traction, spin out and stop, according to WHO TV.

Police immediately ordered the suspect to get out of the vehicle and put his hands up. At first the man complied, but then something unusual happened. Viral video of the arrest shows the man first do a slow side shuffle, then immediately launch into what appears to be a well-choreographed dance routine that lasts about 15 seconds.

The number even involves spinning and some touching of his toes — pretty risky moves considering officers had their guns drawn and his hands were supposed to be in the air.

When the routine was over, the man did not take a bow. Instead, he lifted his shirt, as police told him to, to prove he was unarmed. After the brief interlude, he surrendered and followed the rest of the officers’ orders. But it seems he couldn’t resist milking his 15 seconds of fame.

And people on social media couldn’t resist reacting to the impromptu jig either.

“You don’t always see that happening here at the end of a pursuit,” said the KTLA helicopter reporter who filmed the man dancing.
