Man hits bartender with car after he wasn't allowed to bring dog into bar
A Wisconsin man was charged with a felony for striking a bartender with his car after being told his dog was not allowed inside a local tavern.
Kenneth D. Keaton had been drinking and shouting at Fin N’ Feather in Milwaukee, Wis., on March 14 when he left and returned with his dog, but the bartender told him the pup would have to wait in the car, according to the New York Daily News.
The bartender, who is unidentified, suspected that Keaton might have damaged his car, so he left the bar to check on it. The criminal complaint indicates that he also tried to write down Keaton’s license plate number, just in case there was trouble. But Keaton was already behind the wheel of the vehicle.
As soon as the bartender was within five feet of the car, Keaton hit the gas pedal and “gunned it” straight at him, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, slamming into him and sending him flying onto the roof of the car. After striking the bartender and injuring his elbow, Keaton sped away.
Fortunately, the bartender had already recorded the inebriated patron’s license plate number and was able to give it to police after Keaton fled the scene. Later, he was able to identify Keaton in a photo lineup.
Keaton has been charged with one felony count of hit-and-run causing injury. He is not in police custody at the moment, the Journal Sentinel reported. Yahoo Lifestyle has reached out the Milwaukee Police Department for more information on the case.
