A Man Is Suing Popeyes Because He Didn't Get To Try One Of The Now Sold-Out Chicken Sandwiches
If you tried to get your hands on one of Popeyes' now-sold-out chicken sandwiches and failed, you know how disappointing it can be to go home empty-handed. One Tennessee man has taken it to a new level though, and is reportedly suing Popeyes after not being able to try the sandwich.
The Times Free Press reported that Craig Barr is suing Popeyes on allegations of "false advertising" and "deceptive business practices" and said that he spent "countless hours" driving attempting to get the Popeyes sandwich to no avail.
"I can't get happy; I have this sandwich on my mind. I can't think straight," he told the outlet. "It just consumes you."
Barr said he became so desperate to try one of the sandwiches that he paid a man on Craigslist $25 to get one, only to be shut out again. He also said that while trying to go to a different Popeyes after his regular one was sold out, he cracked a rim on his car.
Barr is seeking $5,000 in damages. Delish did not immediately hear back from Popeyes or fast food holding company Restaurant Brands International after a request for comment.
"It's totally deceptive. Who runs out of chicken? It's a big fiasco. Someone has to stand up to big corporate," Barr said in regard to the reported suit: "Everyone is captivated by these sandwiches. They've got everyone gassed up on them."
Though Popeyes is currently sold out of the viral sandwich, the chain promised eager customers that it would return soon and become a regular menu item.
