Marquette City Commission takes the challenge to bike to commission meeting
MARQUETTE, Mich. (WJMN) – The Marquette City Commission got their fitness on before and after Monday night’s meeting. At their last meeting, the city commission made a proclamation for Walk and Bike to School Week. In honor of that, Commissioner Jenna Smith issued a challenge to the commissioners and staff to bike or walk to Monday’s commission meeting.
“Biking is just important for physical health or mental health,” said Smith. “Connecting yourself with the outdoors and nature and being able to have something else to connect with your fellow community members. Some of the commissioners I’ve talked with about biking, and they weren’t really interested, but they did it anyway. I’ll be curious to see how that went for them and how their return journey goes later today.”
This is part of a nationwide effort called, National Bike to Work Week. For more information on that, click here.
