What it Would Take for Matthew Perry to Join Courteney Cox and Jennifer Aniston on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Matthew Perry may not be too far off from being honored with a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, according to TMZ sources.

The publication reports that Perry, who passed away unexpectedly at the age of 54 in Oct., was selected to receive a star a decade ago, but after five years without scheduling a ceremony, the award expired. That shouldn't pose too much of a problem though; the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, the agency overseeing the program, told TMZ that they have a definite interest in honoring the late actor.

The organization told the publication that it's all but certain it could renew the award for the late Friends star, simply requiring approval from the chair of the selection committee, however, it's ultimately up to Perry's family to decide if they'd like to move forward.

A $75,000 sponsorship fee is required to pay for the star and the ceremony. Once scheduled, the responsibility of inviting guests to the ceremony, which can hold between 60 and 90 people, would fall to his family, a member of which would also need to accept the star on his behalf. However, anyone can put up the money, including a studio, as long as his family agrees.

Two of Perry's costars, Courteney Cox and Jennifer Aniston, are already present on the Walk, near the intersection of Hollywood Blvd and Vine Street. If Perry's family ever goes through with the honor and it can be made to work logistically, the Chamber of Commerce said they'd love to place his star nearby.
