Matthew Perry's Last Public Sighting Before His Death at 54

Following the November 2022 release of his memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir—which extensively detailed his lifelong battle with substance abuse—Matthew Perry kept somewhat out of the public eye, with fans only getting updates from the actor via a handful of social media posts.

However, just a week before his untimely death, the Friends star was spotted in a rare, now final, public appearance.

The 54-year-old actor was seen leaving Apple Pan, a popular West L.A. spot, with a male friend on October 21. He rocked black slacks and a mint tee as he carried takeout.

Before that, he was seen kicking off the month with a workout.

Roughly a month after his birthday, he was seen enjoying a date with a mystery brunette at celeb hot spot Nobu Malibu in California, where he donned his naturally graying hair, casual black shirt, gray slacks, white sneakers and sunglasses.

In one of the shots, he placed his hand on the woman’s back as he led her to the valet stand.

Prior to the outing, Perry was seen in good spirits sitting in the crowd at the French Open in Roland Garros on June 9, in Paris, France, where he wore a nearly identical outfit, this time with an “LAX” embroidered hat as an accessory.

In fact, it seems that he was spending a lot of downtime at sporting events, having attended a game between the Edmonton Oilers and the Los Angeles Kings in Game Six of the First Round of the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs in April.

On Oct. 28, first responders were called to the star’s California-based home for a cardiac arrest. He died of an apparent drowning, per multiple reports. No drugs were found at the scene.

His final social media post has been since called “eerie” and “ironic” as it shows the Serving Sara actor taking an evening dip in a hot tub.

Fans immediately took to social media to react to the news, mourning the loss of the beloved actor who portrayed Chandler Bing in the long-running sitcom.
