McDonald's is branching out into somewhat new territory with the launch of a different restaurant, and fans of the famed fast food spot are awaiting details on the eatery's official opening.

McDonald's President and CEO Christopher Kempczinski announced the news during the company's second-quarter earnings call in July, divulging that the new "limited chain" is called CosMc's. He described it as "a small format concept with all the DNA of McDonald’s, but its own unique personality."

Named after nostalgic character, CosMc, who appeared in some of the chain's commercials and ads from 1986–1992, the eatery will seemingly capitalize on the nostalgia of the "Home of the Golden Arches," which was first opened by brothers Dick and Mac McDonald in California, in 1948.

One brick-and-mortar location of CosMc has already been built, with a curious patron in Illinois stopping by to take a look.

In a few first glimpse photos, a modernized fast food restaurant can be seen painted navy blue, with a large yellow sign reading "CosMc's" plastered across the sides.

As for the menu, the social media user noted in an X post, "It’s a mix of A LOT of new drink offerings and an all day breakfast menu of new items too." The lineup features beverages like a Turmeric Spiced Latte, Churro Frappe, and Blackberry Mint Green Tea, and bites like a Spicy Queso Sandwich and Creamy Avocado Tomatillo Sandwich—details which were later confirmed by the company on Wednesday, Dec. 6.

"As part of a limited test, the first CosMc’s location opens in Bolingbrook, Illinois, this month," the brand wrote of the new endeavor, additionally giving insight on where the shop could be headed next. "By the end of 2024, we plan to open approximately 10 CosMc’s pilot locations, with more opportunities for mood-boosting escapes across the Dallas-Fort Worth and San Antonio metro areas."

In the brand's social media debut, they shared what's to-come in an Instagram post. "we come from a place where gravity doesnt [sic] exist and galaxies are traveled at light speed. so if you need a bold flavorful boost and a quick getaway we got the drinks and bites you need to take you to your happy place," the caption of the three-image photoset read.

These latest developments only add to the hype the chain has been experiencing as of late by honing in on nostalgic and vintage experiences for their customers.

In October, McDonald's delighted fans with the comeback of their Boo Buckets, as well as reintroducing beloved characters Hamburglar and Grimace earlier this year.
