Meghan Markle and Prince Harry hold hands, receive 'standing ovation' at British music festival
Megan Markle and Prince Harry are one-upping their iconic “rain photo” this week by holding hands at a London music festival.
On Saturday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended The Mountbatten Festival of Music at the Royal Albert Hall, with Markle wearing a cherry-red Safiyaa cape dress, red stilettos and carrying a red purse. Harry, who is Captain General of the Royal Marines, wore a red royal uniform. The event, named for Harry’s grandfather Prince Philip, notes the 75th anniversary of the end of WW2 and the 80th anniversary of the formation of Britain's Commandos.
According to ITV and other outlets, the couple received a standing ovation at the start of the event.
It’s the last public tour for the couple, who stepped back from their royal duties in January to move to Canada and raise their 10-month-old son Archie, a move that sent the royal family spinning, and caused the couple to abandon their titles both personally and professionally on the order of Queen Elizabeth.

Since flying to England this week — reportedly without baby Archie — Markle and Harry have kept busy. On Thursday, they attended the Endeavour Fund Awards, which recognized wounded service members, making a glamorous appearance in the rain. Meghan wore a turquoise dress, reportedly designed by Victoria Beckham, gold hoop earrings, Manolo Blahnik heels and her hair in a low ponytail.
According to Newsweek, Harry remarked in his Thursday speech, "Meghan and I are so happy to be back here with you. Being able to serve queen and country is something we all are rightly proud of, and it never leaves us. Once served, always serving.
The duke and duchess seemed content to return to the U.K., but there were rumblings that the queen was “very sad” to miss out on quality time with Archie.
It sounds like the boy is enjoying his new home — attendee Claire Spencer told Hello! that Markle said of her son, “‘Oh yes, well, he is 10 months now and is into everything.’” And in January, Prince Harry revealed in a speech, “It has also been a privilege to meet so many of you, and to feel your excitement for our son, Archie, who saw snow for the first time the other day and thought it was bloody brilliant.”
The couple’s final royal appearance will take place on Monday for the Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey with the queen, and Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
