Meghan Markle's First Solo Event Was Just Announced and It's So Soon
Meghan Markle's royal career is really taking flight. A day after announcing her first solo project, Kensington Palace announced the Duchess of Sussex's first solo engagement, which she'll undertake without any other members of the royal family (including her husband, Prince Harry).
The event is the opening of "Oceania," a new exhibition at the Royal Academy, on Tuesday, September 25. "The Duchess will view exhibits from regions including New Zealand, Fiji, the Kingdom of Tonga and Australia, which she and The Duke of Sussex will visit in October," the Palace tweeted.
Meghan's first solo engagement will take place four months after marrying Prince Harry, while Kate Middleton's was six months after her married Prince William. Her first standalone event was a formal charity dinner at Clarence House, which she attended to fill in for Prince Charles, The Telegraph reports.
The Duchess of Cambridge dressed up for the occasion in a sleeveless Amanda Wakeley gown with metallic, beaded straps. Meghan probably won't have to dress so formally at her upcoming museum visit.
You won't have to wait until next week to see Meghan Markle in action. The Duchess actually has an appearance scheduled for tomorrow, September 20, to celebrate the launch of Together: Our Community Cookbook-her first solo project.
She and women from the Hubb Community Kitchen-who created the space as a place to make and share meals after being displaced from the Grenfell Fire-will be preparing some of the dishes featured in the cookbook at Kensington Palace.
