Meghan Markle Just Met Beyoncé at London's 'The Lion King' Premiere
The star-studded London premiere of Disney's The Lion King is taking place on July 14, 2019.
Both Meghan Markle and Beyoncé are in attendance at the much-anticipated event, which even features an orange (instead of red) carpet.
The U.K. premiere of Disney's remake of animated classic The Lion King is finally taking place in London.
And fans were understandably excited following reports that British royalty Meghan Markle and global superstar Beyoncé would both be attending the premiere, especially following the singer's BRIT Awards acceptance speech, in which she posed with husband Jay-Z in front of a regal portrait of the Duchess of Sussex.
The epic introduction between the two legends (and Bey's husband, Jay-Z) was shown on the big screen inside the movie theater. Reader, I think I am dead now:
Despite technically being on maternity leave, following baby Archie's birth earlier in 2019, Meghan reportedly chose to attend the British movie premiere. As The Lion King remains one of the world's most beloved movies, it makes sense that Meghan would want to attend.
Plus, as royal correspondent Omid Scobie previously reported, the premiere "is being held in support of his conservation work through The Royal Foundation.@WaltDisneyCo have also announced #ProtectThePride, a campaign to protect the dwindling lion population across Africa."
Ahead of the event, royal correspondent Omid Scobie wrote on Twitter, "Buckingham Palace confirm that Duchess Meghan will be joining Harry on the carpet for the #LionKing premiere this Sunday. And yes, @Beyonce’s people tell me that she will be attending. Expect the internet break down." Understandably, fans were pretty excited about the prospect of the Duchess of Sussex and Beyoncé crossing paths.
