A False Reported Claimed That Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, and Archie Had "Low-Key" Lunch at a Pub
Updated 8/30/19: A spokeswoman for the Rose and Crown pub in Winkfield has denied the story, telling Harper's Bazaar that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had not dined at the establishment, and contradicting the Sun's report.
Original story 8/28/19: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have kept a low profile this summer, but on Sunday, the couple and their three-month-old son Archie were seen out at a local pub just having a modestly-priced £15 ($18.32) Sunday roast. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex spent two hours at The Rose and Crown in Berkshire’s Winkfield village, The Sun reports. Harry had a couple pints of beer with his meal while Meghan stuck to water.
A businessman and his girlfriend recognized the couple, who had two protection guards watching them. The man told The Sun that “they were on a table with, I presume, a private secretary. Meghan was cradling Archie most of the time. The little lad was as good as gold, I didn’t hear him cry once while he was there. No other customers recognized them. The staff clearly knew who they were but kept the service low-key."
Their visit to a pub comes after Kate Middleton and Prince William were photographed taking two commercial flights with their children en route to their annual vacation in Balmoral with the Queen.
Meghan and Harry have been attacked by British tabloids recently for their private jet use during their vacations to Ibiza and Nice. (Kate and William have also used private jets en route to their own family vacation on Mustique Island.)
Elton John, who hosted Meghan and Harry in Nice, was among the celebrities who spoke out and defended the couple.
