Meghan McCain slams Alyssa Milano's sex strike: 'Telling women to use their bodies as a bargaining chip doesn’t seem very feminist'
The View promises a “day of hot topics” and once again the panel delivered. Just moments into the broadcast Monday, the conversation turned to actress Alyssa Milano’s call for women to go on a “sex strike” to protest Georgia’s recent ban on abortions past the six-week mark, also known as the Heartbeat Bill.
Co-host Meghan McCain felt Milano’s proposition was misguided. “Telling women to use their bodies as a bargaining chip doesn’t feel very feminist,” said McCain. “I think people like Alyssa Milano need to understand that women aren’t just one section of the population like her,” she continued. “I always feel like pro-life women are completely left out of conversations like this and it doesn’t even occur to her that there are women, like me, who don’t have a problem with the bill.”
Fellow panelist Joy Behar disagreed, and felt the bill has larger implications for women. “Let’s talk about why are men having such a war against women? Why is is the Republican party trying to set women back 50 years or 75 years?” asked Behar.
Viewers on Twitter were split, with many supporting McCain’s view that Milano’s sex strike isn’t a great approach, and lent words of support for her pro-life stance:
Who is Alyssa Milano sleeping with, that a "sex strike" would impact? Governor's?
This seems a little nuts quite frankly, and possibly a good way to destroy your marriage, esp because your partner, likely already agrees with your point of view on this topic.— C.E. (@chare4548) May 13, 2019
@MeghanMcCain you killed it at the table defending life today!
When you brought up the science behind it- "crickets". It's one of those things that are undeniable. I will never understand why it's not just the science part of it but common sense to others. 👏👏— ??💜🇺🇲 A. Rach. (@LifeLoveAR) May 13, 2019
But others felt McCain’s positions weren’t as informed as she’d like to believe:
@MeghanMcCain I hope you do realize that outlawing abortion won’t stop it, it will just put it back in the back alleys.

@MeghanMcCain People who feel abortion is wrong need to start adopting these unwanted kids. Stand up for your belief in life beginning at conception by parenting the kids those birth parents cannot.

Meghan thinks that when Republicans try to turn this country into a real life Handmaid's Tale her blonde hair and money will save her. When they come for one woman they come for all!
