More than two years ago, Megyn Kelly and Jane Fonda had a tense moment about the Oscar-winning actress’s use of plastic surgery. Kelly, then host of the since-canceled NBC morning show Megyn Kelly Today, asked the star about having had “work done” and noted Fonda’s past comments about not being “proud” to admit it.

“We really want to talk about that now?” an uncomfortable-looking Fonda responded during the Sept. 27, 2017 episode, at which point she steered the conversation back to co-star Robert Redford and their film, Our Souls at Night. Fonda, now 82, later complained about the moment in multiple interviews.

“Given the fact that we don’t have a lot of time and Bob is right here, it’s a weird thing to bring up, whether I’ve had plastic surgery or not,” Fonda told ET Canada. “I have and I’ve talked about it. Seemed like the wrong time and place to ask that question.”

The drama picked up steam in January 2018, when Fonda called Kelly’s questions “so inappropriate.” Kelly then devoted a segment of her show to defend the interview and call out Fonda’s “poor me routine.” The TV personality went on to reference the actress and activist’s “Hanoi Jane” reputation during the Vietnam War, saying, she “has no business lecturing anyone on what qualifies as offensive.”

Now, Fonda is speaking out about her plastic surgery. The Grace & Frankie star — last seen at the Oscars rocking a gray pixie cut — has opened up to Elle Canada about her plans to steer clear of cosmetic procedures.

“I can’t pretend that I’m not vain, but there isn’t going to be any more plastic surgery — I’m not going to cut myself up anymore,” she told the magazine.

That announcement has prompted Kelly — whose show was canceled in 2018 — to fire back with a reference to Fonda’s past reluctance to discuss the issue.

“Wait ... I thought ... oh never mind,” the former Fox News host tweeted.

Reactions to Kelly’s tweet have been mixed, with some claiming Fonda to be a hypocrite for speaking about plastic surgery, while others have accused Kelly of shaming a woman over her looks and age.

In a 2018 interview with Us Weekly, Kelly speculated that Fonda had a grudge against her because of her Fox News past.

"I let her beat up on me repeatedly," she added. "She went out there and ripped on me. It’s fine. You have to take your licks as a reporter, as an anchor. And she did it again, and she did it again, and she did it again and I didn’t say anything.

“Some things are about standing up for yourself. And in the case of Fonda, I let her beat up on me repeatedly."
