Melania Trump Arrives in London Wearing a Burberry Blouse

Melania Trump is already practicing sartorial diplomacy on day one of the state visit to the United Kingdom. Upon arrival at Stansted Airport, the U.S. First Lady stepped off of AirForce One wearing a blouse by Burberry, the iconic British fashion house. The sleeveless red and white top features a pussy-bow neckline and illustrations of military medals as well as the word "society" in its print. It currently retails for £650, or roughly $822, on the Burberry website.
The first lady paired the blouse with a navy Michael Kors skirt suit. As Kors is an American designer, the ensemble symbolizes the two countries. The medals on the top are also the FLOTUS's nod to the upcoming anniversary of D-Day. Later this week, the President will travel to Portsmouth to mark 75 years since the D-Day landings.
Before arriving at Buckingham Palace for an official welcome by Prince Charles and Camilla and lunch with the Queen, Melania changed into a white dress with black accents, which she paired with a black and white hat.
Yesterday, when Melania was departing from Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland, she was also photographed in an United Kingdom-inspired look. As she boarded AirForce One, the first lady sported a Gucci shirtdress covered in British landmarks including Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.
Alongside her husband, President Trump, Melania will have a packed three-day itinerary in the United Kingdom, which kicks off today with an official welcome, followed by a private lunch for the Trumps and members of the royal family. Later in the evening, she'll attend a state banquet at Buckingham Palace.
