Melania Trump wears navy military-style dress, glove to 2019 State of the Union
Melania Trump showed support for her husband, President Donald Trump, by appearing at the State of the Union on Tuesday night in a dark navy military-style sheath dress, a stark contrast to the white that female Democratic congresswomen chose to wear in a nod to suffragettes.
The first lady was met with a welcoming round of applause as she entered the House chamber and made her way to her seat, but eagled-eyed social media users were quick to wonder why Melania was only wearing one glove.

Reasons as to why Melania wore a leather glove that matched her dress on her left hand, obscuring her diamond wedding ring, are unknown. At some point during the president’s address, she removed her single glove.
Many wondered what FLOTUS would wear for the 2019 State of the Union, as her outfit last year raised eyebrows. In 2018, Melania arrived to the president’s address wearing an all-white suit.
While her outfit may have a nod to suffragettes, it stirred controversy as most women chose to wear all-black ensembles in 2018 to show support for the Time’s Up movement, as well as to draw attention to #MeToo and sexual harassment.
