Melania Trump's Women's History Month posts prompt heated response from both sides
To celebrate the beginning of Women’s History Month on Friday, first lady Melania Trump took to Twitter and Instagram to share a rather neutral message about what she believes the month should be about.
#WomensHistoryMonth is an opportunity for our country to celebrate our history and challenge women everywhere to continue being strong, resilient leaders in all that they do.

The reactions on Twitter were largely negative, with many posting memes, unclothed photos of the former model and photos of her husband with adult film star Stormy Daniels.
Some pointed out that being Donald Trump’s wife was not an example of leadership.

To which another Twitter user, @itsagirlvoter1, replied, “To be fair…if you were married to DJT you would HAVE to be strong and resilient.”
“Start by encouraging your husband to resign. That would be a show of strength on your part,” @hildacharlene suggested.
Several people argued that the actions of the president did not reflect well on her message.

“Your husband still grabbing girls by the pussy?” asked @jrflip500 on Instagram.
“If we can not save the children that have been separated from [their] parents, and protect them from sexual predators, then no woman or man is strong,” @bomberorumbero tweeted, referring to Trump’s immigration policy. “Right now we are sadly weak.”
Just days after Trump’s former attorney and fixer Michael Cohen testified before Congress that the president had directed him to pay off his alleged mistresses, people couldn’t resist driving home that point.

“Stormy Daniels. She is a very strong woman. You should have her join you on this challenge,” @macarthur54 said.
On Instagram, the first lady’s message sparked a long debate from people who actually appear to support the president but who object to the concept of Women’s History Month.
“This is wonderful, but I’m still waiting for white men month Never had one …just sayin,” wrote @broadstbullyjf, while @bondud chimed in to say, “Men are who we turn to in times of need. NOT WOMEN. I’ll take my men.”
But there were many readers who applauded both Trump’s message and her overall performance as first lady.
“You are such a strong and resilient woman! I’m so proud of you for not stooping to the level of the people who attack you 24/7,” @2labs2cats commented on Instagram.
“Thank you for being a brilliant, gorgeous and thriving example!” @BCCLora tweeted.
“Thank you, and I am sorry that you aren’t getting what you deserve in life,” tweeted @ambernoelmorgan.
As part of Women’s History Month, the White House announced that Melania Trump will be attending the 2019 International Women of Courage Celebration at the State Department on Thursday, March 7, and will present awards to a group of women who have demonstrated “exceptional courage and leadership.”
