Mentor Public Library hosting trio of gardening programs
Mar. 28—All gardeners of all levels of experience can take part in a trio of free gardening programs in April at Mentor Public Library's Main Branch, 8215 Mentor Ave.
First, Mel Hauser from Good Nature Organic Lawn Care will offer practical tips and easy steps for taking care of a lawn and landscape without using harmful chemicals and pesticides, according to a news release. The program will be at 6:30 p.m. April 2, and alll who attend will have a chance to win the book, "A Beautiful Lawn Organically," written by Good Nature Organic Lawn Care's founder Alec McClennan.
Next, the Lake County Master Gardeners will offer their expertise on how to wake up a garden this spring at 10 a.m. April 6. This class will provide an overview on garden cleanup, composting, pruning, fertilizing, soil testing and pest control, the release stated.
Then, a Lake County Master Gardener will explain the winter-sowing technique and provide a hands-on demonstration at 10 a.m. on April 13. Dress for gardening as participants will be planting seeds at the end of the presentation. Also, bring a clean, empty milk jug.

Meanwhile, people can get free vegetable, flower and herb seedsbfrom Mentor Public Library's Seed Library. Patrons can peruse the collection at the Main Branch and check out up to 15 packets of seeds per season. .
