Michelle Obama will cover two magazines in October — Essence and InStyle — as the first family prepares to leave the White House, one with President Obama and one solo.

And people are kind of losing their minds over one of the photos from the Essence shoot. The gorgeous photo shows the pair – who have made it very obvious that they are deeply in love (there is even a Facebook fan page about their love) — standing together, holding hands as though they are sharing a secret.

The shot shows their bodies from the side, and the light from a window casts them in an almost silhouette. Really, there isn’t much more to say here (#squatgoals), but we’ll let Twitter weigh in.

Barack joined her on the cover of Essence. However, the first lady steals the spotlight in an off-the-shoulder black dress with bell sleeves by Milly. Her hair is highlighted and curled loosely around her face, and she’s wearing minimal jewelry — just gold stacked rings on her right hand.

The first lady poses alone on the cover of InStyle, looking every inch the style icon she’s become in her eight years in the White House. Here, she stuns in one of her new favorites, American designer Brandon Maxwell, wearing an emerald-green one-shoulder sheath with thick folds at the top of the bodice. The structured dress is accessorized with chunky earrings and her engagement ring.

While she’s proven over the years that she certainly knows her way around a gown, the first lady professed her love of comfy clothing in the InStyle interview. “Very casual,” she said of her personal style. “No makeup, a T-shirt, and a pair of ripped jean shorts or workout pants because I’m always on the verge of going to or coming from [working out].” She’s just like us! “I love color and pieces that make me feel good, but it’s much more informal,” she adds.

Further proving how cool she is, Obama said she’s not really interested in trends. “I tend not to worry about the trends, because what works for an 18-year-old selfie queen may not for a 52-year-old first lady who is a mom of teenagers she is trying to be a good role model for,” she said.

While she’s sure to leave behind many legacies, including Let’s Move, Let Girls Learn, and My Brother’s Keeper, we will never forget her fashion sense.
