Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth Are Reportedly Close to a Divorce Settlement
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth aren’t looking to drag out their divorce. According to The Blast, the couple is hoping to have their divorce settlement finalized by Halloween. The two, who were married last December, had a tight prenup, making the divorce an easy legal process. Sources also told The Blast that all discussions surrounding the split have been “amicable” and that both Cyrus and Hemsworth are having their lawyers write up all the paperwork so they’ll be able to get everything signed quickly.
Hemsworth filed for divorce on August 21, roughly a week after the couple announced they had separated. There was reportedly hope that the couple would reconcile and that they didn’t want to rush into a divorce, but that all changed after photos of Cyrus and Kaitlynn Carter getting cozy on vacation in Italy became public.
“He thought they could work it out, but all those pictures of her and Kaitlynn ended that,” a source told Us Weekly. “Liam comes from a very conservative family and his family was freaked out by it.”
Another source told E! News that the photos were the final straw for Hemsworth.
“Even though Miley and Liam were separated for a while before she was photographed making out on the yacht with Kaitlynn, once Liam saw those photos he decided it was time to file for divorce,” the source said. “That was it for him, seeing those photos.”
Cyrus made her first public statement about the split on Twitter shortly after Hemsworth filed for divorce, clearing up rumors that their separation was caused by her cheating.
“I can admit to a lot of things, but I refuse to admit that my marriage ended because of cheating,” she wrote. “Liam and I have been together for a decade. I’ve said it before & it remains true, I love Liam and always will. BUT at this point I had to make a healthy decision for myself to leave a previous life behind.”
