Ministers' group to host community concert
Kernersville Christian Ministers Fellowship will be hosting Kernersville Alive at the Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden on Thursday, Sept. 5, at 5:30 p.m.
The community concert will feature live music from Taylor Vaden, activities and games for kids, food trucks, a prayer station, and more.
When asked about what the event was, Carol Fulton, a member of the Kernersville Christian Minister’s Fellowship, replied, “It is something we put together four years ago after COVID.
“It’s to show that we are we are still here after the pandemic, and we want to celebrate that we came through it. We also do it for ministry. People need prayer and words of encouragement.”
Fulton said it is important for the community to have fun and free activities that can be enjoyed by the whole family.
“We do this to let people take a breath and relax. It’s for people to come out and forget about their cares and worries. Come, sit, relax, listen to music, and have fun,” Fulton said.
“My philosophy is that we’re supposed to show unity in the body of Christ, and we’re supposed to be on Jesus’ side. Even though there are different denominations, different cultures, and faiths, I like learning about each other’s culture and working together as a collaborative effort and coming together to Jesus. We need to stand together to show our community unity.”
During the pandemic, the Kernersville Christian Ministers Fellowship distributed supplies for the community, assisted a local elementary school with equipment used for remote learning, such as headsets.
“If something were to happen in Kernersville, we need to show unity for the community.
As long as we have the model of Jesus, we can get through it. We can pull our resources together and work together,” Fulton said.
The event will also feature various community groups that will be sharing information on their organizations.
“We invite other ministries to have tables at the event, like CareNet Counseling in Kernersville, Crisis Control, Shepherd’s Center, Next Step Ministries and others,” Fulton said.
The Kernersville Christian Ministers Fellowship was established in 1995 with the purpose of fellowship and personal support amongst pastors in Kernersville.
It has hosted many local outreach events, such as Kernersville Alive! and their annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day service.
The Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden is at 215 S. Main St.
