10-year-old captures mom giving birth to baby in car in dramatic video
A Nevada mom who went into labor on Friday gave birth to a baby girl in her husband’s car before she could make it to the hospital — and the couple’s young son captured the entire delivery in a viral video that’s been viewed almost 9 million times.
Rudia Napier and Michael Addison’s newborn, Jolee Lavergne, has been affectionately dubbed “Infinity Baby” after the little girl made her dramatic entrance in her family’s Infiniti FX35 sports car, according to KTNV.
As the couple’s other three children sat shocked in the backseat, 10-year-old Jayden — who had been put in charge of filming the pre-delivery car ride — filmed the entire birth from his “PG-13” vantage point, as his dad put it.
In the video, the mom has her feet on the passenger’s side dashboard as she reassures her children, “It’s okay, you guys. The baby’s just coming.” Within in a minute, though, Napier’s moans grow louder as she yells, “Oh, Mike, the baby’s coming out!”
Addison puts his hand on his wife’s thigh as he tries to get her to Henderson Hospital, and the couple’s children can be heard crying in the backseat. “We’re almost there!” Addison shouts.
But a minute later, it becomes clear to both parents that they’re not going to make it, and Addison, who is still driving, helps Napier prepare for an on-the-road delivery by holding her left leg. “Oh my god,” the dad says as Napier reaches down and pulls out the healthy, crying baby girl.
“That was the most intense situation I've ever been in,” the dad told KTNV, calling the unplanned event a “beautiful nightmare.”
"[It was] crazy honestly,” added Jayden. “I was recording and I guess [my dad] forgot I had the phone.” The boy told KTNV, “All that was going through my head was, ‘record the baby.’”
“Six hours later I watched the video,” said Addison. “I was like, ‘Oh wow, he recorded the whole thing!’”
But Addison also recorded something of his own while driving to the emergency room — a voice message for his newborn daughter to listen to at a future date. “Hey Jolee, it’s your father,” he says. “I just want you to know you’re making a grand appearance in my car.”
The mom told KVVU-TV that waiting until she arrived at the hospital to give birth was something her baby girl was definitely not going to allow. “[My husband was] like, 'Can you hold it?' And I was like, 'No!'“ she said. “So I just pushed and I pushed. I couldn't take it anymore, and that's when her head popped out.”
The family did finally arrive at the hospital, where Napier and baby Jolee were both admitted in good health. Once everyone had recovered from the situation, Addison decided to post the four-and-a-half minute video on Facebook for his loved ones to see — but he said he had no idea he was about to make his family famous.
“So I flipped open the screen and it says I have 150,000 new notifications,” the dad of four told KVVU-TV. “I was like, ‘What did I just do?’”
The video had racked up more than 8.8 million views as of Tuesday morning. “Omg your woman is a warrior for lack of a better word!” one stunned viewer commented. “Wow this is awesome you were so patient and supportive the entire time!,” another added.
While Infinity Baby’s extraordinary birth has sent social media into a tailspin, the event is something that no doubt made a permanent impression on her family — especially her incredulous mother.
“I’ve never been through anything like that in my life,” Napier told KVVU-TV. “And I’ve done some crazy stuff.”
