These are the most tagged trends of 2017 in major cities across the globe
Finally, the endless #OOTDs filling your social media feed have been put to good use (not that inspiring your wardrobe isn’t important). Long Tall Sally, a global fashion e-tailer, worked with trend consultants to reveal the most shared trends, whether prints or accessories. The trends were spotted in 20 of the most stylish cities around the world, from London and Paris to lesser-known but up-and-coming fashion hubs like Seoul, Lagos, Berlin, and Dubai.
To hone in on what real women are wearing, the consultants monitored “outfit of the day” posts on Instagram, Pinterest, and street style blogs from a mixture of cities.
The findings might surprise you.
It’s women in Tokyo who prefer berets, for example, tagging the look 3,259 times, while Parisian ladies forgo that French stereotype in favor of white tees, with 6,169 tags.
Unsurprisingly, in the always flashy Dubai, embellished clutches are in high demand, while in the metropolis of Barcelona, rugged ripped jeans are all the rage.
Punk rock is still kicking, and the proof is in their #OOTDs, which show metallic shoes are on trend, with 6,369 tags.
Fashion capitals like New York City and Milan emphasized outerwear — colored faux-fur coats and belted coats, respectively, are the top trends in those cities.
Newer trends like millennial pink and oversized sleeves dominate in Bangkok and Seoul, respectively, while dying looks like off-the-shoulder are alive and well in places like Lagos, Nigeria.
