Winter Park, Colorado, will welcome an all-new accommodation in January 2023. And it’s about as old-school as they come.
Denver-based Zeppelin Development is opening the A-Frame Club, a set of 31 A-frame cabins and an original saloon, less than a mile from the base of the oldest continually operated ski resort in the state, Winter Park Resort.
A-Frame Club, located on three acres in Old Town Winter Park, combines nature and outdoor recreation with a 1970s-inspired ski aesthetic that’s cozy, comfortable, and oh-so-cool. The restaurant serves cozy comfort food from a wood-fired, French-inspired menu and an expansive patio facing the ski hill for a spectacular après-ski experience.

“A-Frame Club is taking mountain hospitality back to the heyday for skiing in the '70s and '80s that I grew up with,” Kyle Zeppelin, founder of Zeppelin Hospitality, said in a statement shared with Travel + Leisure. “It’s a throwback to a simpler time with cabins at the base of the ski hill that open up directly to the forest, and a turned-up party in the lodge.”
Designed by Portland, Oregon-based Skylab Architecture, the stand-alone A-frames are 475 square feet. The two-floor cabins mirror the tree line and are made of cedar, fur, and birch panels. The main floor has a comfortable living room surrounding a Malm fireplace, plus a kitchenette, and the second floor comes with a lofted bedroom, desk, and onsen-style soaking tub. And guests will never feel far from the outdoors, as the ultra-tall windows allow the mountain sun to shine in and guests to gaze out to the surrounding forest and Fraser River.
As for the common spaces, Zeppelin Development worked with Skylab and Denver-based Wunder Werkz. The team used classic ski ads as inspiration, which is evident in the choice of materials, including warm cedar planks and natural leather, mixing with brown and green tones throughout.

Beyond the rooms, the big draw to A-Frame Club is The Saloon, the on-site bar and restaurant. Open to the public and hotel guests daily, The Saloon will serve both lunch and dinner. Helmed by hospitality director Antoine Moinard, working alongside culinary director Nic Weber, who has worked at Michelin three-starred Atelier Crenn in San Francisco, The Saloon is aiming to become Winter Park’s best dining destination. Guests can look forward to the signature A-Frame burger, which Weber is making with ground brisket.
As for the après-ski-inspired bar program, that will come with plenty of classic cocktails, herbal liquors and spirits, hot cocktail options, beers on tap from Colorado breweries, and an expansive European wine selection.
