MSSU Choral Society celebrates 44 years of community singing
JOPLIN, Mo. — A local community choir is all about longevity, it’s been active for 44 years.
We’re talking about the MSSU Choral Society, which was rehearsing tonight on campus.
It was formed in 1980 for those who love to sing but don’t have a choir.
Since that time, it’s been open to the public, and open to people of all ages.
One of its members has been part of the ensemble since it began.
She told us how excited she was to be part of it for another year.
“Very because I’m not able to do what I use to do so I really look forward to the Monday nights,” said Jeannine Coles, Choral Society member.
“Just that if you’ve ever been a part of a choir, we the choir for you, and if you’ve ever just wanted to try it out, we’re the choir for you,” said Melissa Belk, Choral Society director.
Jeanine Coles’ granddaughter is also now part of the choir.
Their first performance of the year will take place on the 2nd Sunday in December at First Community Church in Joplin.
