Naomi Osaka Is a Mom! Tennis Star Welcomes First Child with Boyfriend
Naomi Osaka is now the proud mom of a baby girl.
Earlier this week, People exclusively reported that the tennis athlete, 25, and her boyfriend YBN Cordae welcomed their first child together in Los Angeles. A source close to the couple told the publication that they are “doing well.”
Though the pair have not revealed the name of their newborn baby, the Grand Slam champion shared with People that they have been thinking about possible options.
“We have been discussing names. I would say that we are going for something more unique than traditional,” Osaka told the outlet earlier this year.
Osaka subtly hinted that she was having a daughter last month when she posted pics taken during a pink-themed baby shower on Instagram. In the series of photos, the gold medalist is standing in front of a sign that reads “A little princess is on the way” while surrounded by pink flowers and balloons.
The new mom first announced her pregnancy earlier this year. On Instagram, she posted a baby sonogram photo. In the caption, Osaka wrote, “Can’t wait to get back on the court but here’s a little life update for 2023.”
In addition, the tennis star shared a letter (written in both English and Japanese) that says she plans to take a small hiatus from tennis to focus on being a mom.
“I know that I have so much to look forward to in the future, one thing I’m looking forward to is for my kid to watch one of my matches and tell some, ‘That’s my mom,’ haha,” Osaka wrote in the caption. “2023 will be a year that’ll be full of lessons for me and I hope I’ll see you guys in the start of the next one cause I’ll be at Aus 2024. Love you all infinitely [red heart emoji].”
Congratulations, Naomi!
