This Naomi Watts Movie Just Hit #1 on Netflix & It’s Totally Worth the Watch
ATTN all Netflix subscribers: The streaming service has a brand-new top ranked movie.
The Impossible—which stars Naomi Watts—just dethroned Operation Christmas Drop as the number one flick on Netflix’s list of most watched movies. Although the film premiered back in 2012, it’s currently ranked ahead of Mile 22, Knock Knock and Holidate. (Talk about an impressive lineup.)
The Impossible tells the horrific story of an English family (including three young children), who are vacationing in Khao Lak, Thailand, during the holidays. The problem? The movie takes place in December 2004, just days before the massive tsunami inundated the small village.
Although Maria (Watts) and her family arrive on Christmas Eve, they’re faced with tragedy 48 hours later. Together, they must tend to injuries and find shelter in an attempt to achieve the impossible: survive.
In addition to Watts, the movie also stars Ewan McGregor (Henry), Tom Holland (Lucas), Samuel Joslin (Thomas), Oaklee Pendergast (Simon), Marta Etura (Simone), S?nke M?hring (Karl), Geraldine Chaplin (the Old Woman) and Johan Sundberg (Daniel).
The Impossible was directed by J. A. Bayona (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, The Lord of the Rings). While María Belón wrote the original story, Sergio G. Sánchez (A Monster Calls) penned the screenplay. Belén Atienza (The Lord of the Rings), álvaro Augustin (Pan’s Labyrinth), Ghislain Barrois (Way Down) and Enrique López Lavigne (28 Weeks Later) served as executive producers on the movie.
If disaster flicks aren’t your cup of tea, there is plenty of other feel-good content on Netflix, including Moneyball, Pets United, Over the Moon and Bad Teacher.
