Nashville's Neighbor Has a Next Level Farm & Inn Pushing The Culinary Boundaries With Heroic Wine Dinner Series
Southall is the evolution of traditional Southern hospitality—a unique escape in historic Franklin, Tennessee just 20 minutes outside Nashville. The property salutes the agricultural heritage of the area while forging an innovative path ahead. Set on an authentic working farm, Southall provides ample sustenance for the mind and soul, as well as the body. Within the 325-acre working farm, history meets innovation, the earth feeds the kitchen, and the experience nurtures the soul. The property boasts an Inn with luxurious guest rooms and suites; 16 standalone cottages; a Spa with transformative treatments and mindful rituals rooted in natural elements; a wealth of farm, wellness and adventure activities, and a culinary program where everything on the plate is driven by the bounty of Southall’s fields, greenhouses and orchards.
This spring Southall is starting a dinner series with the wines of Peter Michael, one of the most influential mountain wine projects in and around Knights Valley of Sonoma County. After 6 years of scouring the local lands for the right property, finally in 1982 the estate was purchased and Peter Michael pledged the ranch and winery to remain under family stewardship for the next 100 years. That dedication to family and to the land remain tenants of why Peter Michael wines resonate so loudly in the wine community. The Southall x Peter Michael Wine Dinner takes place on Thursday, March 21st at 6:30pm.

Southall's design is inspired by the land: Southall worked closely with the team at IndiDesign to create a space not only inspired by the land, but created by it. Encased by panoramic views of Southall’s foliage, January’s intimate dining space features a variety of intricacies, grand to minute, including: a signature log table created by Tennessee-based custom furniture store, Good Wood, using lumber that was sourced on the property with additional woodworking completed by Born Again Barnwood; ceramic plateware designed and handmade by RV Pottery and Hallyburton Pottery; to the leather check presenters created by Narrow Gate Leather Goods and the black and white botanical sketches of plants found on property, commissioned by Nashville-based artist, Richard Bowers. The interactive kitchen, designed in tandem with Chef Klamar by Next Step Design featuring custom grills by Grills by Demant, presents an inside look from inception to presentation, lending an added collaborative energy to the space.
Southall also offers seasonal programming that encompasses tasting menus featuring hyper-seasonal produce grown directly in their fields; multiple different honey tasting experiences that allow guests to learn about our pollinators and how Southall contributes to a sustainable future; and unique hands-on culinary classes that combines food, culture and coming together in celebration as only Southall can offer!
