Neighbor posts threatening signs to dog owners who don't pick up their pet's waste
A Denver neighborhood was shocked by signs on a neighbor’s lawn that threatens pets, but police say that it’s protected by free speech.
Located on South Logan Street, the orange signs seem like they’re from a neighbor who has had it with dog owners leaving behind their pooch’s waste on their lawn. It reads, “These are the kinds of inconsiderate [profanity] that should never own or walk dogs. News flash, none of us want your dogs [profanity] or [profanity] in our yards!! I shouldn’t have to tell you this — GROW UP!”
The poster goes on to threaten the owners with “poisoned meatballs” and “paw crushing traps,” or “smearing dog crap all over your front door” if action is not taken. The creative wordsmith also hung bags of dog poop over the sign.
One passerby thought it “over the top,” according to KDVR, while another could appreciate the person’s plight. “I totally get it. I mean, there is definitely people out there that leave their dog’s poop on the ground. It’s not right,” one man said.
The outlet reports that there’s nothing Denver police can do, as there are no direct threats on the signs. Despite being a bit rude, the sign is protected as free speech.
