Nikki & Brie Bella Reveal Their Baby Names & One is WAY Weirder

It’s the moment we’ve been waiting for in Bella twin news, folks. No, not the births of the twin mamas’ nearly-identical cousin-twins on July 31 and August 1 (although that was a joyous day, don’t get us wrong). But the names, people! Ever since the pair of sisters hinted at at least one bizarre baby name in their near future, we’ve been trying not to hold our breath as to just how wacky it might be. And we have not been disappointed.

This week, Nikki told People that she’s the proud new mom of son Matteo Artemovich Chigvintsev, whom she welcomed with her fiancé and Dancing with the Stars pal Artem Chigvintsev. Adorable. Mateo means “god’s gift” and is the Spanish equivalent of Matthew, and Artemovich essentially means “son of Artem.” Spoiler: This is not the weird one.

“When I was pregnant, my trainer was talking about his son and this strength that he has and that when he gets knocked down, he gets right back up,” Nikki told People. “And when he said, ‘Oh, my Matteo,’ I got alligator chills from head to toe. So I came home and I go, ‘Artem, if we’re having a boy, his name’s Matteo.’ I got this feeling when my trainer was talking about him.”

Brie, meanwhile, welcomed her new little buddy, Buddy. Normal enough, right? And definitely sweet. Here’s where the name train goes rogue: Buddy’s middle name is Dessert. Yep. Not Desert, not Des — DESSERT.

“We named our son Buddy because he’s named after his late grandfather,” Brie told People. “Bryan’s dad (who died in 2014) really wanted a grandson, and unfortunately, he’s not alive to see that. But Bryan also really wanted a son to carry on the Danielson name. So we thought, ‘How special to be named after his late grandfather?”

Yeah yeah, all well and good and cute, but what we are dying to hear is the explanation for Dessert already.

“For his middle name, I really wanted to incorporate my family,” Brie continued. “I wanted Buddy to have something of my grandmother. Her last name, her maiden name, is Dessert. When you look at it, people are going to say Dessert, because it’s French. But it’s pronounced ‘desert.'”

But is it, though? The french pronunciation of dessert would be more like “dez-AIR” than “dez-URT” but who are we to question, really? If Brie and Nikki can pull off totally naked side-by-side preggo photos, they can pull off anything in this here mama life. Including a baby name that sounds like a treat.
