Okay, Who’s Going To Die In The ‘House Of The Dragon’ Season Finale?
Gird your loins dragons (is that anything?), because the House of the Dragon finale is almost here. And folks, it looks like it's going to be a big one. It wouldn't be a Thrones-adjacent property if we didn't lose a few people along the way, and I'm afraid this finale will be no different. So who will live? Who will die? Who will lose an eye? Here's what we know based on the book.
We're going to dissect two portions of the trailer above, so before we go any further, make sure you watch that.
[There are obviously spoilers ahead. If you don't want to be spoiled, you should, IDK, leave this post!!]
Lucerys Targaryen (Likely)
Yeah, this is going to be the big one. In the trailer there's a moment where a council of Rhaenyra and her allies stands around the painted table and Jacaerys, her oldest son, says "Send us." And then we see someone absolutely sprinting toward their dragon, in another setting. (Grainy screenshot below.)
So here's what happens: Lucerys and Aemond are both sent to Storm's End to try to shore up an alliance with the Baratheons (ever heard of 'em?). And when they get there, conflict breaks out.
These two hate each other from their childhood, remember? So Borros Baratheon tells them to take their conflict elsewhere, they both get on their dragons, and the dragons fight each other over Shipbreaker's Bay. Aemond's dragon is far bigger and stronger, so he wins. Lucerys's body and the body of his dragon wash up on shore a few days later. This is going to be an absolutely brutal one to watch. And as you can imagine, Rhaenyra will not take it well when she finds out.
Otto Hightower (Maybe??)
In the book Otto doesn't die until later, but based on the trailer, there's a moment when Daemon and Otto meet on the same bridge they met on all those years ago, and IDK, it looks like shit's about to go DOWN.
Based on the last episode, my guess is Otto is there to deliver the terms to Rhaenyra and co. for the not-so-peaceful transfer of power. And we all know how much of a loose cannon Daemon is. The show could make a departure from the book and decide Otto's time as Hand of the King is really, truly over. Just a theory, but it would be a fun twist.
