The One Dish That’s Always On The Kelce Family’s Thanksgiving Table

Whipping up a Thanksgiving meal for a big family comes with its own set of unique challenges — not to mention if someone asks you to add something new to your already tried and tested menu. Having a big family means you’ll be working to keep everybody fed and happy, so when you know what works, you tend to stick with it. And if anybody knows what it's like keeping a larger than life family in good spirits, it's Donna Kelce, mother of two of the NFL’s most famous football-playing brothers: Jason and Travis Kelce.

In a recent appearance on the YouTube show, Mythical Kitchen, Jason Kelce — center for the Philadelphia Eagles — revealed his family-favorite Thanksgiving food that never misses an appearance at the Kelce dinner table.

Mythical Kitchen host, Chef Josh, asks his guests ahead of each episode which food they would eat as their proverbial “last meal.” Chef Josh then makes said last meal for his guests, which in this episode happens to be a Donna Kelce original: what the football playing brothers refer to as “Mama Kelce’s Dinner Rolls.”

Easily considered a dessert in most households, Mama Kelce’s Dinner Rolls are crescent rolls filled with marshmallows, cinnamon and sugar — and they seriously blur the lines between dessert and appetizer in a beautifully tasty way.

“Every Thanksgiving, there was always a different meat,” Jason recounts while on the show. “The one constant my mom always has to make is the Mama Kelce Dinner Rolls.”

Mama Kelce’s dinner rolls are actually a take on the now 54 year-old Pillsbury Bake-Off winning Magic Marshmallow Crescent Puffs recipe. To make the beloved Kelce family’s take on this timeless Pillsbury classic, all you need is a container of Pillsbury Crescent Rolls dough, marshmallows, butter, cinnamon, sugar, and a bonus addition of both powdered sugar and chopped nuts if you're feeling frisky.

Prepare the marshmallows by covering them in a melted butter, cinnamon and sugar mixture. Then,  take the crescent roll dough triangles and roll a marshmallow up inside of each one. Place each roll inside of a muffin tin sheet and bake according to the package instructions while patiently waiting for greatness. Once removed from the oven, you can drizzle with a powdered sugar glaze and top with chopped nuts — or enjoy as is, fresh out of the oven. Enjoy and happy holidays!
