Do This One Simple Thing to Be the Perfect Dinner Guest
Drop those dirty dishes y’all! Gone are the days when offering to do the dishes was synonymous with being a good houseguest.
Now, according to a new study by AreaRugs.com, when it comes to making a good impression, complimenting your hosts’ home ranks above rolling your sleeves up and hitting the sink.
The study asked 1,000 Americans how 11 behaviors would affect their impression of a guest when visiting their home for the first time. Shockingly, the most positive turned out be the easiest: being offered a compliment on their home.
That’s not to say that offering to do the dishes isn’t appreciated, because it most certainly is—in fact, it’s the second most appreciated gesture according to respondents. It just shouldn’t be the only thing you do to woo your hosts.
