Oreo Launching New Flavor That's Out of This World

Oreo kicked off 2024 boldly–and with a new limited-edition flavor said to be inspired by the galaxy.
On Tuesday, Jan. 23, the fan-favorite cookie brand revealed a new flavor called Space Dunk would be added to its lineup, taking Oreo fans "on an expedition where no OREO cookie lover has gone before — to the edge of space!"
This latest addition comes a little over a month after Oreo confirmed three other flavors of cookies would hit store shelves in 2024 and honestly, we're here for all the Oreo news.
Wondering what a bite out of the galaxy would taste like? Us too. But according to an official press release, "Each cookie is stuf'd with layers of blue and pink 'cosmic creme' with marshmallowy flavor, and popping candies that create a supernova bursting sensation with each bite."
The Space Dunk cookies don't just feature a whole new "otherworldly" flavor profile but one of five never-before-seen "galactic embossments," too. Not only that but according to the brand, for the first time in Oreo cookie history, there's "a small cut out in the cookie itself" to allow fans to peer through the outer shell and see the colorful creme. If you're wondering how the brand settled on exploring the out-of-this-world treat, it's not because it took a page out of Coca-Cola's book. Instead, Oreo partnered with Space Perspective–the world's first carbon-neutral spaceflight experience company, which aims to make space travel accessible for all–for this special release. And yes, there's something in it for consumers.
Fans who get their hands on a package of the limited-edition Space Dunk Oreos (which have reportedly already hit shelves at select Costco stores for just over $13 for a 40-pack and is available for pre-orders online beginning today) can scan the QR code located on the package for a chance to win "a transformative six-hour journey to the edge of space in Space Perspective's Spaceship Neptune—a pressurized capsule propelled gently by a SpaceBalloon?."
