Ozzy Osbourne says his marriage is '1,000 percent' better since seeking treatment for sex addiction
Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne celebrated 35 years of marriage over the summer, just one year after being on the brink of divorce. Now, the Black Sabbath singer says their relationship is “1,000 percent” better.
“It’s a journey, really, a marriage,” the rocker said on his wife’s show, The Talk, on Wednesday. “You go up, you go down, you make mistakes. … I’ve learned a lot this year.”
Things are going so well that there is apparently a need for Viagra at the Osbourne household.
“Occasionally, I have to take Viagra, right,” Ozzy, 68, explained when asked if the best time to talk to Sharon is after “sexy” time. “By the time the Viagra works, it’s a great sleeping pill, because my wife is asleep.”
Last year, Sharon, 65, left Ozzy after finding out he was carrying on a four-year affair with hairstylist Michelle Pugh. Months later, The Talk co-host publicly forgave him and he released a statement saying he was entering treatment for sex addiction. Earlier this year, he was quoted as saying he doesn’t have a problem and was just a rock star (“I just got caught, didn’t I,” he allegedly told The Times), but Osbourne again spoke about being a sex addict over the summer.
“My first wife divorced me because of my playing around. It’s by far the worst addiction that I have. When I was drinking or doing drugs, I was affecting myself physically, but with the sex addiction, it affects everybody,” Ozzy told Hello! magazine. “It made me realize what a complete idiot I was.”
He continued, “I sat down and I thought, ‘What the hell have I done?’ I can’t imagine life without Sharon. She’s my soulmate. I love her. I can honestly say that I’ve never loved any other woman besides Sharon. I’ve got a crazy-assed way of showing it, but she’s the love of my life.”
The singer also shared with the magazine this summer that he’s still undergoing therapy for sex addiction.
“If you stop going, the little monster in your head opens one eye and it’s scary,” he explained. “You don’t know your own mind. I don’t like that side of myself; I hate that guy. I’m fed up of being an addict — and it’s not just sex; it can be drugs, alcohol, collecting stamps, anything. There’s no in between with me, and it’s really hard work. And the business that I’m in … it’s like sitting in a cake shop when you’re on a diet. I even do the sex therapy sessions on Skype now when I’m on the road.”
The couple renewed their vows earlier this year.
