Palworld player count sales soar past major milestone in eight hours

Palworld rocketed past the 1 million player mark in less than 24 hours after the Pokemon game with guns launched. Developer Pocketpair made the announcement on Twitter roughly 10 hours after Palworld launched and thanked players for embracing their game – which is definitely, absolutely not a scam.
While Palworld seemed like little more than a Pokemon spoof, the news is, perhaps, unsurprising. The day before Palworld launched, it was the fourth most wishlisted game on Steam.
Pocketpair didn’t say how many of these players are playing via Xbox Game Pass, but it looks like a fair chunk of them are on Steam. At the time of writing, SteamDB shows that 379,795 people are playing Palworld on Steam, a new concurrent record set just before this piece was written.
Pocketpair also asked for patience as they worked out bugs and problems with the Palworld servers, all of which were struggling under the pressure of handling so many players in such a short time. While multiplayer in particular seems to be suffering the most, it’s surprisingly stable otherwise, all things considered.
Whether this exceptional launch-period success continues remains to be seen. Palworld has more to do in it than the early trailers suggested, but it’s also still very much an early access game, with rough edges and a noticeable lack of features. Pocketpair has a Palworld roadmap with future updates planned, though, so whether people drop off quickly or not, we’ll be seeing a lot more Palworld in the coming months.
