Baby named after KFC's Colonel Sanders to get $11,000 payout
A newborn baby‘s future is looking bright after winning a KFC-sponsored competition.
Little Harland Rose’s parents decided to name their daughter after KFC’s Colonel Sanders following an announcement earlier this year that the fast food giant would pay money toward college tuition for a baby named after its founder. Harland is Colonel Sanders’s first name.
Harland Rose was born on Sept. 9, the same day as the Colonel, and will receive the $11,000 prize meant to go toward her higher education.

KFC said in a tweet, “I’m as pleased as pumpkin punch to announce the winner of our Baby Harland Naming Contest and the Harland who will be ushering in an all-new generation of Harlands, little Harland Rose.”
Who knows? Maybe one day, Colonel Sanders’s namesake will even be entrusted with KFC’s original recipe for fried chicken that famously uses 11 secret herbs and spices.
