Myles Bryant, the New England Patriots player at the heart of Taylor Swift's latest meme, is speaking out about his role in the viral footage.

The cornerback famously blocked Travis Kelce during a play in Sunday, Dec. 17's game, pushing the tight end back and causing him to fall dramatically to his back on the field as the ball soared overhead.

In response, Swift got to her feet, seemingly shouting out in frustration as Kelce got up and threw his hands into the air, looking at the referees who failed to call pass interference on his opponent.

As she tends to do, Swift quickly went viral for her expressive reaction. Now, Bryant is speaking out about the action, telling People that her enthusiasm comes at no surprise.

“It’s a high-stakes game," he defended, telling the publication, "People get real into it, so it’s cool.”

He also noted that “it’s cool she’s into it.”

"Football is awesome, it turns out,” Swift joked in her recent profile with TIME. “I’ve been missing out my whole life.”

Swift grew up an Eagles fan, as is her dad, but has been to seven of the 12 Chiefs games held since going public with her relationship with Kelce, opening up about being "there to support Travis" in the same interview.

"I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care,” she continued, referencing those who criticize her appearances or complain about the NFL's exposure of her. “The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other.”
