Pedro Pascal Finally Responds to Being Labeled a ‘Daddy’
Pedro Pascal knows he's the internet's daddy, and he's finally opening up about the playful moniker.
During The Hollywood Reporter's Drama Actor Emmy roundtable, interview Lacey Rose made sure to bring up the "daddy narrative," admitting that the whole concept was a bit confusing.
To help clear things up, Kieran Culkin joked that, while Damson Idris may be declared a husband, Pascal would be "daddy."
Pascal affirmed while nodding to Idris, "I think one is young," then nodding to himself, "[and one is] old."
As the Last of Us star pointed out on The Graham Norton Show, there are a variety of meanings for the term, along with various iterations—such as "Zaddy"—but what it boils down to is a beloved male-presenting idol—kind of like how the internet calls female-presenting idols "mother."
"[The daddy thing] seems a little role-related," Pascal also observed, confirming that he's "having fun with it." He continued, "There was a period where the Mandalorian is very daddy to baby Grogu, and Joel is very daddy to Ellie. These are daddy parts. That’s what it is."
Pascal also clarified that he is not a daddy and has no plans to become a daddy when asked, leading Culkin to joke, "I’m a daddy. Nobody likes my daddy parts, [but] they like your daddy parts."
The internet's daddy has gone viral countless times due to the perception of his "daddy" persona. Earlier this year, a scene between him and Nicolas Cage in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent became part of a TikTok trend, while his coffee order sent hearts racing just from reading the ticket on the side of his Starbucks cup. Even Elizabeth Banks and Reese Witherspoon can't get enough of him!
