For Perspective: Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Made Their First Public Appearance 1 Year Ago

Once upon a time, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s relationship was just speculation. But exactly one year ago this week we got our first glimpse of the couple together.

Although it seems like just yesterday that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex first stepped out together at the Invictus Games and subsequently got engaged, a lot has changed in their lives in the last year…well, mostly Meghan’s.

Before she became a royal, Markle had a blog (R.I.P The Tig), a role on the USA show Suits, two rescue dogs, an Instagram account and she could rock ripped jeans whenever she wanted. Now, she must stick to a stringent set of rules (read: Markle broke protocol today and closed her own car door—gasp!). On the plus side, she gets to wear tiaras.

The main takeaway? A lot can happen in a year.
