Petersburg public swimming pool: Temps in 90s all week, cool off opening day
PETERSBURG — Get ready to have fun in the sun at Petersburg's public swimming pool. The previously scheduled opening day was delayed just before Memorial Day due to an inoperable pool pump.
Beginning on June 18 through August 17, the pool will be open Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. The only weekends it will be open will be August 24 and 25 and the final weekend during the Labor Day holiday, August 31 - September 2. The weekend hours are the same, noon to 6 p.m.
The National Weather Service forecasts temperatures to be in the 90s in Petersburg all week long. What a great time to cool off with friends, family and neighbors. Parents or guardians [adults] must always accompany children 13 and under while at the pool. Other rules that must be observed include the list below.
No running — Children and adults may slip on wet surfaces and injure themselves.
No diving — Even with experienced lifeguards on staff, diving can be dangerous. It can endanger other swimmers, and it could cause serious harm to the diver.
Supervise children — Children under 13 years old should always be monitored by an adult.
Toddlers must wear swim diapers.
No pets are allowed in the pool or pool area.
No glass bottles are allowed.
No smoking
No weapons are allowed on the premises.
