Plus-size model Ashley Alexiss named ambassador of lingerie brand, sizzles in sexy Christmas campaign
The body-positivity movement in the lingerie industry just scored a huge win!
International plus-size model Ashley Alexiss is the new ambassador for Lovehoney Lingerie and is featured in a campaign shoot for their upcoming Christmas line. The job is the perfect fit for the 26-year-old, as she loves posing in “sexy” lingerie.
“In my opinion, lingerie gives a woman a special kind of confidence, as it accentuates everything you need it to and allows you to be able to look at yourself in the mirror and think, ‘Damn, I’m hot,’” Ashley tells Yahoo.
“Every single piece just made me feel so confident. It was great to finally wear something that fit my curves and accentuated them to really make me feel my sexiest.”
Other lingerie brands, such as Bluebella and CurvyKate, have also tapped women with diverse body shapes and sizes to slip into their skimpy skivvies and model for campaigns that were truly inspiring.
Lingerie ads that show an inclusive range of women’s bodies really do matter. A recent study published by Chapman University in Orange, Calif., found that some women — but not all — feel worse about their bodies when looking at images of thin, bikini-clad models compared with neutral ones.
That’s why Ashley is a dedicated advocate for body positivity and thrilled to have been chosen to star in this campaign for Lovehoney.
“Being a role model for them allows me to connect with even more women worldwide and spread my message that ‘Beauty Is Not a Size,’” she says.
Standing 5’4″ and a size 12, the Boston-born beauty has broken the stereotypical model mold and become a global success, modeling for a variety of brands over the past seven years. But she admits she hasn’t always been so confident.
“It has taken me a very long time to get to where I am with my body confidence, and it is not something I just woke up with one morning,” she says.
“I believe much of my confidence comes from years of being criticized, which motivated me to embrace who I am. I know there’s no perfect body, but my body is perfect for me, and that’s enough.”
Ashley has also pioneered her own range of swimwear and apparel, aimed at curvier women to help them feel and look confident at the beach rather than shy away.
“One of my favorite quotes is ‘Butterflies can’t see their wings,’ which means that they can’t see how truly beautiful they are, but everyone else can,” she says.
“I think people are like that too, and if women realized just how beautiful they looked from someone else’s point of view, struggling with body confidence wouldn’t be a thing.”
