Police send warning to parents after finding $90K worth of meth featuring 'Frozen' characters
Police have issued a warning to parents after $90,000 worth of crystal meth was found in Kentucky inside baggies that featured characters from Disney’s Frozen.
The director of the FIVCO Area Drug Enforcement Task Force in Greenup County told WSAZ, “For a child, it’s potentially lethal.” According to the director, who is remaining anonymous due to the nature of his job, a common street name for crystal meth is “ice,” which may be why the drug dealers used the characters, beyond just being big Elsa fans. The director believes using such characters was “100 percent intentional.”
Authorities believe that the drug dealers used Frozen so addicts know what the product is, and the meth they’ve recently confiscated is some of the purest — 97 or 98 percent — they’ve seen in years.
The drug is so pure that even handling it is dangerous, which is why parents are warned to be on the lookout for bags, even ones that appear empty, so children do not come in contact with it.
The bust occurred in Greenup County, Ky., but the director says that anyplace within a 50- to 100-mile radius could have some of the product. People are encouraged to call their local police department if they see any evidence of such baggies around their neighborhood. Anyone with information is urged to call the F.A.D.E. Task Force at 606-836-0442. The call is anonymous.
As the investigation is ongoing, no other details are being released.
