Prince Louis Gets Messy in an Outtake from His Photoshoot with Kate Middleton
Prince Louis may be a royal—and a budding artist—but he's also still a kid. On Wednesday, on the eve of the young Prince's second birthday, Prince William and Kate Middleton shared new photos of Louis, taken earlier this month by Kate herself. And now, fans are getting a look at the aftermath of the finger painting-inspired shoot.
In a slideshow along with one of the previously released photos, which had Louis's hands painted with a perfect rainbow, Will and Kate's official Instagram account shared an image of Louis with his face covered in paint. "Instagram vs Reality," the caption read.
The slideshow plays into meme culture much more than the average @KensingtonRoyal post does; generally, Will and Kate's social media presence pivots between serious and heartfelt. But then, they have a new staffer leading their social strategy: 27-year-old David Watkins, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's former digital communications head, and onetime global social media coordinator for Burberry.
That said, Prince Charles and Camilla don't have a wunderkind running their social media, and they managed to do pretty well for themselves celebrating Prince Louis's birthday. This morning, the couple posted a touching black-and-white photo of Charles embracing Louis. The youngster appears to be wearing the same outfit he donned last summer, at his debut Trooping the Colour—a set of garments he appeared to have inherited from his uncle (and Charles's son), Prince Harry.
"A very Happy Birthday to Prince Louis, who turns two today," the comment read. "The young Prince enjoys a hug from his Grandfather, The Prince of Wales. Louis. "
