Priyanka Chopra’s wedding to Nick Jonas back in December was an elaborate, over-the-top affair. Naturally, the beaming bride shared photos from the multi-day event to her social media accounts, because what’s the point in having a lavish wedding if you’re not going to tell anyone about it? Some, however, thought that Chopra overshared her big day with the world. She disagrees.

In an interview with The Sunday Times, Chopra stands by her decision to share photos from her big day to her millions of followers.

“If I wasn’t a famous person and I’d just got married, don’t you think my Insta would have photos of me and my husband?” she said. “Just because I’m famous, don’t I have the ability to be proud of being a newlywed without people saying that I’m using my marriage? I gave up my right to privacy when I became a public person, it’s the deal you make with the devil. But trust me, there are lots of things I still keep personal.”

Chopra and Jonas had two ceremonies over the course of three days in India back in early December. Chopra admitted beforehand to Vogue that her wedding to Jonas was going to be over-the-top, saying, “People will need vacations after this wedding.”

After the whirlwind affair, Chopra opened up about the chaos of preparing for her wedding to Tina Brown at the World Summit in April, saying that it all added to the excitement.

“I knew that both of us wanted one wedding in each of our religions, so that was two days anyway. But it all happened so fast. We decided to prep this wedding in October, and we got married first of December,” she said. “We saw videos, and then the bill. And we were like, ‘Oh, cool, cool, cool. Maybe we should have prepared this a little bit more.’ So that’s why it was that glorious. We weren’t prepared.”
