What Producers Have Said About ‘Golden Bachelorette’ Spinoff

The Golden Bachelor season 1 cast

ABC’s smashing success with the male-centered The Golden Bachelor is spurring a push for a spinoff featuring an older woman looking for love.

Gerry Turner’s eliminated ladies and fans of the wholesome season hope ABC will queue up The Golden Bachelorette next—which would feature a sexy senior lady, most likely someone sent home from his season.

While Gerry, 72, will choose between his final two women, Leslie Fhima and Theresa Nist, on The Golden Bachelor on the Nov. 30 season finale, producers haven’t revealed if a female version is in the offing.

Still, there are clues that it could happen. Read on to find out what we know about possible Golden Bachelorette season 1.

Will there be a Golden Bachelorette?

It’s unclear for now. All we know so far is that 28-year-old tennis pro Joey Graziadei’s season of the traditional The Bachelor has been shot and will begin airing on Monday, Jan. 22.

What is the premiere date for The Golden Bachelorette?

Since the show hasn't even been announced, it's a little early to talk about premiere dates.

What Bachelor producers have said about The Golden Bachelorette

Signaling that plans could already be in the works, when asked if there could be a Golden Bachelorette, producer Jason Erlich recently told The Hollywood Reporter, "People are really liking the stories that we're telling, and so I'm really interested to see. It will be different; it will be almost like doing it for the first time all over again with The Golden Bachelorette. What is it going to be like with 20-some older men living in the Bachelor Mansion? We don’t know, but I'm pretty sure it will be different and interesting. And that’s what makes me want to watch."

Who's in the cast of The Golden Bachelorette?

We're getting ahead of ourselves again. The show hasn't been confirmed so it's a bit early to talk about casting.

How to get on The Golden Bachelorette?

While there's been no official announcement of future season The Golden Bachelor or a new Golden Bachelorette, ABC's castingcrane website is accepting applications.

Does Gerry Turner support The Golden Bachelorette concept?

Yes! He told E! News, "I absolutely do hope that is something that happens."

He said of his large cast of ladies, "There's no way I could recommend one out of those 22 women that would be better than any of the others. They'd all be wonderful candidates for it."

But it could also be possible that producers would pick a total unknown gal for an inaugural season.

Who would be the first Golden Bachelorette?

Faith Martin, whose heart was broken when Gerry eliminated her in third place, won fans and would be a strong contender. The horse woman, 61, recently told Parade if producers asked her, “My direct answer would be 'absolutely.' I would do it because it’s been one of the best experiences of my life doing [The Golden Bachelor], and I would love for them to vet the people that I was interested in dating. Find them for me! Of course I would say yes.”

Who else might be a contender as Golden Bachelorette?

Pickleball enthusiast Ellen Goltzer, who felt like a princess dressing up on The Golden Bachelor, had an emotional elimination. She also got viewers teary-eyed with her story of how her friend Roberta, who later died of cancer, encouraged her to apply to the show.

She told E! News that she would love to see a Golden Bachelorette, whether or not they choose her, "because then it shows that it was successful and that people are looking for it and people want to see it. And that, to me, is the most exciting part of it."

What do Gerry’s other castoff ladies think?

Kathy Swarts, famed for her feud with Theresa and “zip it!” line on The Golden Bachelor, recently told Parade, “Heck yeah!" to a senior Bachelorette.

Of her show pals, Kathy, 70, said, "I think all of us agree that it would work."

Kris Jenner lookalike Susan Noles, 66, also would like everyone to be considered, telling Parade, "Give us a chance!"

Joan Vassos, 60, who left The Golden Bachelor to take care of her daughter’s postpartum depression, has said of a senior lady spinoff, “I would be open to it.”

Sandra Mason, 75, has also mentioned she’d be a great fit!

Could one of Gerry’s final two be golden herself?

Viewers don’t yet know who Turner chose, but Leslie or Theresa will be left alone at the end of The Golden Bachelor. The runner-up on the previous Bachelor franchise shows often gets his or her own gig!

What does host Jesse Palmer think of The Golden Bachelorette buzz?

Jesse, who has been right by Gerry’s side, told TODAY, “As the show goes on, you learn more about these women, what they’ve been through. I think there’s going to be a swell in support of there being a Golden Bachelorette. That’s my personal opinion."

The host also told E! News, I know there are thousands of women across America deserving of that."

Will The Golden Bachelorette replace The Bachelorette in 2024?

One possibility for getting The Golden Bachelorette going would be to film it in place of the regular younger woman show next year. While Charity Lawson was a popular season 20 Bachelorette this summer, fans would likely accept a senior show instead in summer 2024. Another cool idea would be to team up younger and older Bachelorette shows in two back-to-back time slots!

Or producers could twin up a second Golden Bachelor season with a Golden Bachelorette. Fans have wondered if Bachelor in Paradise, which followed Gerry's show this fall, could be on its last legs.

Ratings are down for BIP season 9 and one of the stars, Rachel Recchia admitted recently,"I am so confused with all this hate I'm seeing online about Paradise."

As Decider recently noted, The Golden Bachelor's success could be making the case for canceling Bachelor in Paradise. And the same would hold true for adding The Golden Bachelorette instead of season 10 of the beach bacchanalia.

One thing's for sure, seniors rule!
