Proof She *Is* a Modern Duchess: Meghan Markle Shut Her Car Door Herself

It was a royal event like any other: Meghan Markle—solo this time—pulls up in a regal black car to the front gates of the Royal Academy of Arts in London. There for the opening of a new solo exhibition, she composes herself, then steps out of the car dressed in Givenchy to greet her host (a museum employee, we're guessing) and the zillions of event photogs with cameras all on her.

But then she does something crazy: The Duchess of Sussex reaches back and closes the car door herself.

Yes, it's typically someone else's job to do this. Yes, she had a chauffeur (and protection officer) that was most likely micro-seconds away from doing just that. 

But Meghan is a modern, independent duchess. She knows it's much more efficient to just shut the damn door and move on.

Twitter—and the entire internet—erupted because, omg, can you imagine the queen, K Middy or any other member of the royal clan doing something so low-key? 

Just one more reason Meghan is on track to royally shake things up.
