Prosecco Nail Polish Is Real — and Just the Latest Lickable Lacquer
Prosecco lovers rejoice! You can now enjoy the taste of your favorite Italian white bubbly in nail polish form. No joke.
Worldwide e-commerce marketplace Groupon has created the strange polish — only available in the U.K., sadly — noting on its website, “Combining our love for manicures and Prosecco, this nail varnish is made with real Prosecco and smells and tastes just like the real thing. With a delicate gold luster, this lick-able polish looks exquisite, giving you the fun of the flavor without a sore head the next day.” Still, the site warns, the polish is not for sipping, as ingredients include shellac, iron oxide, and titanium dioxide, along with alcohol, sodium saccharine, and Prosecco flavor.
British fans who want to give it a lick can get it now, for free and for a limited time, simply by clicking “buy” on the website. (Yahoo Beauty has reached out to Groupon to see when American shoppers might be able to get in on the deal too; stay tuned for an update.)
The Prosecco product is not the only tasty lacquer we cannot get our hands on here in the U.S. In 2016, KFC debuted chicken-flavored nail polish, oddly enough, in both Hot & Spicy and Original flavors — but only in Hong Kong, part of a campaign to “increase excitement around the KFC brand.” The polish was lickable in the same way as the bad-tasting Mavala Stop, aimed to cure nail biters of their habit, explained a press release at the time.
Still, short of traveling overseas, there is a way to try out some flavored polish for yourself: Kid Licks, which has an entire child-friendly line made from organic fruits, veggies, and plants in flavors including Red Beet and Sour Carrot.
