QUIZ: Could You Be Best Friends With Hoda Kotb?
Picture this: Kathie Lee Gifford and Savannah Guthrie are taking a break for the day and Hoda Kotb is in need of a co-host. Do you think you could rise to the occasion?
It's time to find out if you have the chops to chat alongside the bubbly, brilliant, and fun Today anchor and become BFFs with the one and only Hoda.
Hoda says: early bird
Truth be told, she's the earliest of early birds. She sets her alarm at - wait for it - 3:15 a.m. Every. Single. Weekday. But she has been known to hit the snooze button once or twice.
Hoda says: East Coast
Though she was born in Norman, Oklahoma, Hoda first ventured to the East Coast to attend Virginia Tech University. Before joining NBC and moving to New York City, she spent time living and working in Florida and Louisiana. So despite her many moves, it's safe to say she calls the East Coast her home.
Hoda says: Go Saints!
One of Hoda's first anchoring gigs was working for CBS affiliate WWL in New Orleans from 1992-1998, so it's no surprise she fell in love with the iconic city. Now, she's showing her adorable daughter Haley her moves (and team). Earlier this year, she shared a video of the mother-daughter duo dressed in matching Saints gear to support the NFL team.
Hoda says: KFC
Fries are delicious, yes, but what about a "big ol' pile of buttery mashed potatoes"? That's how Hoda described her ultimate "cheat meal," which also includes KFC's crunchy dark meat chicken and biscuits. She'd also love to polish it off with a large slice of chocolate cake, please.
Hoda says: mojito
Hoda is known to share a glass of wine with Kathie Lee, but her summer go-to is a ginger vodka mojito. Here's how she makes what she calls "her favorite thing": She cuts a lime in half and, using a fork, squeezes all the juice out. Then, she throws in a fistful of mint and crushes it at the bottom of the glass.
"Then I take vodka and glug, glug, glug, glug, glug, glug, glug," she told Today, also recommending agave for sweetness, a splash of diet ginger ale, and a bunch of ice.
Hoda says: I'm the first one to go home!
Maybe it's her early morning call times, or the fact that she spends all day talking, but Hoda likes to head home ASAP.
"I'm the first one out the door. Always," she told Meredith Vieira on her talkshow in 2015.
This has become such a trend that her friends coined the term "Hodini" to describe her disappearing act from parties.
Hoda says: "Brave"
She might listen to Journey every once in a while, but Hoda spent a lot of time listening to Sara Bareilles's anthem when the two collaborated (along with Cyndi Lauper) in support of the American Cancer Society. Hoda has cohosted with and interviewed Bareilles, so she's definitely a fan. Or maybe a stalker. (Her words, not ours).
Hoda says: running
Though she impressed Gus Kenworthy on the bunny slopes in February, you can usually find the anchor boosting her endorphins on a run.
"I run in Central Park as the sun comes up," she told Parade in 2010. "Some may mistake it for walking, but I swear I am running."
