Read Justin Trudeau's Sweet Welcome to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Who Are in Canada
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are already on their holiday break in Canada, where they will spend time with Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, as well as a few friends. They are there for a six-week break, and they got a very official welcome from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
He sent out a tweet and included Meghan and Harry's baby, Archie in his welcome message. "Prince Harry, Meghan, and Archie, we’re all wishing you a quiet and blessed stay in Canada," he wrote. "You’re among friends, and always welcome here."
The choice to spend the holidays in Canada is hardly random. Meghan lived in Toronto while she filmed her former TV show Suits. While Meghan and Harry were dating, Harry went to Toronto to visit her on more than one secret occasion. In June 2017, they spent a romantic weekend there, and in September of that year, he made a quick stop to the set of Suits before opening the Invictus Games in Toronto.
In a tweet on Friday, royal reporter Omid Scobie confirmed that the couple would be spending time in Canada but that they would be doing so privately.
"As has been reported, Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are spending private time in Canada," Scobie s. "The decision to base themselves in Canada reflects the importance of this Commonwealth country to them both. Whilst this emails confirms the country they are taking their family time in, for security reasons we will not be releasing any further details and request that their privacy is respect."
